Northeast Building Products Corp. (“NBP”) is a Philadelphia based manufacturer of energy-efficientwindows and doors. Founded in 1975 by Irv and Elaine Levin, who have since retired, NBP is still owned and operated by the founder’s son, Alan Levin, and his wife, Fran. This small family business serves over 9,000 customers in the Northeast corridor, including distributors, dealers and contractors, and produces over 200,000 windows per year. Operating in a state-of-the-art facility covering over 225,000 SF, Northeast employs over 325 people and markets it's products under the “Camelot®” name.
In 2009, Northeast won two of the window industry’s most prestigious awards: Window and Door magazine’s Crystal Achievement Award for “Most Innovative Plant” and the “Greenest Manufacturer” award from Door and Window Manufacturer magazine. Each year since 2000, NBP has been rated as a “Top 100 Window Manufacturer” by Window and Door magazine.
Northeast Building Product’s philosophy has always been to seek ways to reduce its impact on the environment by being at the forefront of energy-efficient technologies and operating practices. The Company for example was the first to adopt the innovative Sashlite® window spacer system, which is the most energy-efficient insulating glass technology from both a manufacturing and end-user perspective. Sashlite® technology reduces energy, materials, and space requirements during the production stage, and allows consumers to reduce their energy usage via superior thermal performance.
In a speech at the 2009 UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke cited Northeast Building Products as an example of how the Recovery Act’s $80 billion in clean energy investments had not only helped create jobs, but was helping the U.S. curb greenhouse gas emissions by promoting the use of energy-efficient technologies.
In his first State of the Union address, Northeast Building Products was cited by President Obama as one of the companies that was helping fuel job growth as a result of the economic stimulus package.
